Applications of Steel Tubing

There is a wide array of applications for the products offered by Ohio Galvanized Tube. No matter your walk of life, you've likely seen or directly dealt with many of the various projects that steel tubing is used in throughout your lifetime. Below we will take a look at just a few of the many projects that steel tubing appears in around the United States and the world!

Greenhouses: Steel tubing is the perfect base for building a greenhouse. Along with the tubing being versatile for creating the exact shape of your greenhouse, steel tubing is also the perfect material as it is able to withstand the damp environments by being rust and corrosion resistant!

Conveyors: Although you may not have been exposed to conveyors in your daily lives unless you work in a factory, these are very important for the production of many goods. Steel tubing lays the groundwork for almost all conveyors, no matter if it is in a conventional factory or in the depths of the earth in a mining scenario.

Sporting Goods: Steel Tubing is actually very prevalent throughout sports, however, many people may not actually recognize it. The most visible example can be found in the goalposts of sports like soccer or ice hockey while other examples include the uprights on football fields and the foul posts present on a baseball diamond.

Tent Supports: Much like their use in greenhouses, steel tubing can also be used to support large tents from falling due to wind or just gravity. You've likely interacted with these during events such as outdoor weddings or charity get-togethers.

Furniture/Display Racks: One of the most common uses that you've likely interacted with many times through your life is furniture fixtures or display racks that can be found in just about any commercial store. Steel Tubing can lay the base for holding up all of the products seen in stores for their browsing customers.

Throughout your life you've likely interacted with one, if not many, products that are made from steel tubing. If you find yourself in need of high-quality tubing or simply want to learn more about the material, visit Ohio Galvanized Tube's website here

Common Applications for Stainless Steel Tubing

Stainless steel has been one of the most common and versatile materials in the world since it came into production over 100 years ago. It has become an indispensable product for a variety of industries . Due to it's broad range of sizes and custom-made designs, it is an integral piece in many specific applications.      Certain industries use certain stainless tubing for different sectors. Many manufacturers, mills and manufacturing lines use parts of stainless steel for their machinery and goods they make. Same goes for the automotive industry where it is used for high quality mufflers. Gas and heat lines allow stainless steel tube lines to withstand extreme pressures being forced through them. It is also 100% recyclable and easy to sterilize.      Unlike ordinary steel, stainless steel isn't prone to corrosion, rusting or staining with exposure to water. It is not totally stain proof however. In areas with low oxyge...

Difference Between Tube and Pipe

Have you ever wondered if there is a difference between steel tube and steel pipe? Are these words interchangeable to describe the same cylindrical piece of metal? As it turns out, there is indeed a significant difference and they are not synonymous. So let's take a look at the differences. 1. Measuring Diameter This might not seem like a big difference, but it actually is. Steel tube is measured from outside edge to outside edge, while pipe is measured only for the internal opening. This is because steel tube has its strength determined by the thickness of its walls, and steel pipe's usefulness is determined by the volume it can hold. It is common to find a 12-inch pipe, but it would be extremely rare to find a 12-inch tube. Tubes are used in applications that require a smaller size. 2. Structure Steel tube does not have to be cylindrical. It can be square or some other shape. Pipe, on the other hand, is always round. Tube can have a seam while pipe is a uniform piece. Pipe te...
