Cut From a Different Cloth: Our Machine Capabilities

When choosing a fabricator to produce your parts, there are many things to consider. Since your chosen fabricator will become part of your business' supply chain, it is important to choose one that will offer the best price, most capabilities, and quickest turnaround time to ensure that your overhead stays low. At Ohio Galvanized Tube, we offer a wide array of machinery offering different cuts, enabling us to keep costs low and fabricate a variety of options. Read on to learn more about just some of our options.

Plasma Machine

Ready to heat things up? The plasma cutter (pictured above) is ready to tackle the toughest steel tube cutting jobs. This machine is the newest member of our family and can cut steel into a variety of shapes. It can even cut steel tubing up to .75" thick! A plasma machine uses gas and electric current to heat material into 4th stage matter, making easier cuts of larger pieces.

Haven Cutter

Now that you've learned about larger cuts, how about bringing it down a notch? Our Haven can make precise, surgeon-like cuts as small as half an inch! However, the action doesn't end there. This machine comes with a built in burring system to offer the smoothest, finest steel tubes. This two-in-one machine helps save money, time, and space!

Cold Saw Cutting

Now that you've seen the largest and smallest, how about something for those middle of the road type jobs. This saw can cut steel tubing in a range of .5" to 4.5." Even more impressive, this machine uses advanced heat transferring technology to allow for fine, crisp edges after cutting. Heat from the cutting process is transferred away from the circular center of the saw and to the tips of the blade, allowing for clean, quick work.

While these are just a few of Ohio Galvanized Tube's capabilities, we offer our loyal clients a lot more to bring them the highest-quality cuts at a highly competitive price. Contact us, today, to learn more!

Basic Welding Joints

Welded joints are one of the most commonly seen joints although there is much more that goes into them than most realize. A Weld Joint is characterized by being the place where two or more metal pieces are joined together through the introduction of melted solder and high heat. There are 5 types of weld joints, corner, lap, tee, edge, and butt. Each one has it's own unique qualities and the best places to implement.  The butt joint is formed by placing the ends of two parts together. The two parts either lie on the same plane or are side by side. It is the most simple type of weld joint. There are a few different types of welds involved with a good butt joint. Next, let's focus a little on the corner joint. The corner joint is another pretty basic option for beginners and looks exactly how it sounds. This joint is identified by the two welded pieces being joined together in the shape of an L. It is important to remember to weld both the front and back of the L shape for struc...

Steel Tubing's Influence on Construction

As we've covered before, there are thousands of applications for steel tubing products in just about every corner of the world and in a huge amount of different industries. One of those industries is in the construction of new buildings, far and wide, for a ton of different uses, like apartments, office space or governmental decision-making. Most of these buildings will likely be built with the help of scaffolding which is made with an array of steel tubing parts. Let's take a look at why scaffolding is so important and how steel tubing is an important part of the construction industry as we know it!  Safety: Scaffolding is important for ensuring the safety of the workers that are contracted to construct a new building. These structures help create a flat surface for workers to stand on while they work and also allow more than one person at a time to be working in a similar area or site. The creation of handrails on the top platforms for scaffolding also helps ensure worker s...
