  1. Steel is the most recycled material in the world. According to a 2015 study, “In the United States alone, 73 million metric tons of ferrous scrap was processed by the scrap recycling industry last year [2014], nearly 55 percent of the volume of all domestically-produced material.”
  2. The seat belts in your car are made from steel. Yes, the belt that protects you from getting injured in a crash is crafted from steel. 
  3. Steel production has made leaps and bounds to become more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Since 1972, the steel production process has limited its energy use 34 percent.
  4. Have you ever wondered when steel was first used? The answer is in 1883 for skyscrapers. 
  5. Steel roofs can last over 50 years, while traditional roofs last only 17 years.
  6. In 1918, the first steel-made automobile was introduced. 
  7. As years pass, steel is becoming more and more durable and dent-resistant. Today, steel products are at least 30 percent stronger than they were ten years ago. 
  8. There are more than 3,500 grades of steel. This might be surprising, but it’s true! 
  9. Steel doors are fireproof, making them a beneficial investment. After all, the well-being of any folks using the building should be the top priority. 
  10. Steel-framed homes are impervious to termites. Yes, you can keep termites out when a steel-framed home. Imagine how wonderful it would be to not ever have to worry about those pests. 
  11. Building structures from steel means they won’t rot, settle, warp, crack, or split.

Welded joints are one of the most commonly seen joints although there is much more that goes into them than most realize. A Weld Joint is characterized by being the place where two or more metal pieces are joined together through the introduction of melted solder and high heat.
