Plasma Cutter 101

Dragon Plasma Cutter Plasma cutting is the process of cutting through electrically conductive, like steel, with an accelerated jet of ho t plasma. The basic plasma cutting process involves creating an electrical channel of superheated, electrically ionized gas through the work piece to be cut, thus forming a completed electric circuit back to the plasma cutter through a grounding clamp. This is accomplished by a  compressed gas  (oxygen, air, and others depending on material being cut) which is blown through a focused nozzle at high speed toward the work piece. An  electrical arc  is then formed within the gas, between an electrode near or integrated into the gas nozzle and the work piece itself. The electrical arc ionizes some of the gas, thereby creating an electrically conductive channel of plasma. As electricity from the cutter torch travels down this plasma it delivers sufficient heat to melt through the work piece. At the same tim...

What to Consider When Growing Cannabis in a Greenhouse

Cannabis greenhouse comprised of steel tubing In Ohio, marijuana is still a controlled substance, but its medicinal use is legal. This will not be a post about how to go about jumping through the hoops to get a grower's license, but will address a few of  the issues of when you are actually preparing to grow cannabis in a greenhouse. Understand Your Climate You may find a greenhouse kit that says it works great for growing in Colorado, but if you are in Cleveland or Columbus or Cincinnati, you have to understand the differences weather makes to your greenhouse. Outside humidity, number of sunny days, amount of snowfall, intensity of winds are all factors to take into consideration. For Ohio, it would be wise to choose steel tubing as the framework for your greenhouse because of its durability in all types of weather, as well as its weight and load bearing capabilities. Build with the Future in Mind Experts say that the Ohio cannabis industry could hit a billion dollar...

Green Uses for Steel Tubing

Greenhouses comprised of steel tubing Steel is the most recycled product on the planet, so it makes sense that the environmentally conscious, especially when living and working in large cities like Cleveland, Ohio, would choose steel as a worthy material. In this blog, we’re going to look at a couple of the more green uses for steel tubing. Gatorshield® A500 Mechanical Steel Tubing Greenhouses Steel tubes with a higher percentage of zinc   provide rust and corrosion protection for added toughness in wet or damp environments are ideal for applications such as building greenhouse frames. It holds more weight so less material is needed which will mean more sunlight let in and less shadows. Plus, steel is also much more durable than wood or PVC pipe, has an incredibly long lifespan, and doesn't require much in way the maintenance. Solar energy applications Solar panels supported by steel tubing The solar industry depends on steel tubes because they know ...
